All facets of repair are performed here such as simple vehicle services and tune-ups, engine rebuilding, electrical diagnosis, hydraulic system troubleshooting, drivability concerns, snow plow repair, small engine repair, welding and fabrication, tire repair, minor body repair, and much, much, more.

We provide services for all City departments. These include: Police, Fire, Street, Refuse, Park, WWTP, Sewer Maintenance, Cemetery, Airport, Transportation, Engineering, and Traffic.

Our diverse staff of competent mechanics is one of the best in the industry. By each individual advancing in his or her area, we are able to fix almost anything that comes our way. Very little is contracted out for outside repairs. Many of our employees are ASE certified. The years of combined experience within this department would be hard to surpass.

The largest categories of vehicles are cars and light trucks. Other types include dump trucks, fire trucks, trash packers, backhoes, pay loaders, street sweepers, skid loaders, asphalt equipment, shuttle busses, trolley busses mowers, chainsaws, and weed eaters.

The facility also contains an alternate fueling location for city equipment. Additionally, we maintain a small, but dependable, loaner car fleet in the event we have to keep a vehicle for long term repairs.

The department includes a fenced in, secure area used for parking vehicles awaiting maintenance, damaged vehicles, and vehicles awaiting disposal. The maintenance facility is an 80' x 120' metal building which contains offices for an administrative assistant, director, foreman, parts department, technical library, and an employee break room. This facility also houses our complete maintenance area, which has three general automotive hoists, a heavy-duty 10,000 lbs. lift, a commercial mower lift, and an overhead chain hoist.

State-of-the-art tools and equipment are essential to our operation. Utilizing the latest diagnostic equipment expedites the repair of our equipment and reduces down time. Some of our specialty tools include the latest software to properly diagnose Ford, GM, Chrysler, MV1, Navistar, Cummins, Caterpillar, and Allison.

Central Equipment also has approximately 1,000 line items in inventory in our parts department. Items stocked include routine service items like filters to more unique parts like brooms for street sweepers and proprietary parts for asphalt equipment. An inventory of pre-mounted tires is also maintained in our 25' x 40' tire area to better facilitate tire replacement and minimize downtime.

There are 15 people employed within this department which is located at 919 Millbrook Lane. Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
