Kokomo’s jobless rate dropped to its lowest level since November 2000, as the city’s unemployment rate decreased to 4.6%.
“For job seekers in Kokomo this is great news” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “Kokomo’s labor market continues to grow as the city’s unemployment rate declines to a 15 year low. We work closely with the private sector to facilitate job growth through new development and quality of life investments that attract new workers with the skills employers are seeking.”
The data represents an increase in 280 new jobs during the 12 month evaluation period, and shows that Kokomo’s unemployment rate is lower than Howard County’s rate.
Kokomo’s unemployment rate is declining at a time when its population is increasing. For the period between 2010 and 2014, Kokomo led Howard and the adjacent counties in population growth with 230 new residents.
