Kokomo manufacturer plans expansion after purchasing Michigan supplier

METCO, INC, a Kokomo automotive manufacturer, has announced plans to invest $500,000 in its Kokomo operations to expand its production and warehouse facility for its growing portfolio of product line and customers.

The company is an industry leader in the manufacturing and distribution of DC Power Products and related components. METCO recently acquired Standard Starter Drive Company, a Redford, Michigan-based auto parts supplier. METCO will relocate all production and distribution to Kokomo.

The company says it will begin new hiring for light assembly and warehousing positions this fall. To apply, visit www.metcoinc.us or email hr@metcoinc.us with resume or questions.

The 8,000 square-foot addition will allow the company to increase production as well as its workforce.

"METCO has established a legacy of quality and innovation as a DC Power Products Supplier,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “Their investment in Kokomo will allow the company to continue to grow, prosper and create more jobs in the future. METCO’s announcement speaks to Kokomo’s business-friendly environment, quality of life and belief in the workforce of our city."

“Kokomo was a natural choice for expansion. We’ve had great success with our operations here,” said Mike Tweed, METCO, INC President and CEO. “The acquisition of the Standard Starter Drive Company assets and our expansion represents our confidence in the quality of our Kokomo team and their ability to sustain our company’s growth and profitability.”

METCO, INC was founded in 1990, and has eleven fulltime employees. The company assembles and distributes DC Power Products and related components to a wide range of automotive, commercial and industrial markets.
