Goodnight appoints DeAndra Beard to Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance Board of Directors

Local business owner and entrepreneur DeAndra Beard has been named to the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance (GKEDA) Board of Directors. GKEDA is the primary economic development organization for Kokomo and Howard County.

Beard, who owns Beyond Borders Language Center as well as The Bind Café and Beyond Barcodes bookstore, will be one of two small business appointees by Mayor Greg Goodnight.

“I am looking forward to being part of the continued growth of Kokomo,” said Beard. “I am grateful that Mayor Goodnight has faith in me to represent the interests of small business owners on the board. We need economic opportunities that focus on quality of life and attracting new residents. I’m excited about this opportunity to advocate for that direction.”

Mayor Goodnight said Beard is a perfect fit for the GKEDA board of directors.

“DeAndra has shown her commitment to the community through her actions and deeds,” Goodnight said. “She is invested in our city, and she is driven to be an educator not only for her students but for the entire community. She will bring a unique perspective to the Alliance.”

GKEDA board members serve 2 year terms.
