Analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), shows that Kokomo Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) leads the nation in construction jobs gained based on percentage. From June 2015 to June 2016, the Kokomo MSA gained 200 construction jobs, representing a 20% increase, the highest in the nation.
“This is another example of how Kokomo’s economy continues to grow,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “New housing and amenities produced by these new construction jobs have an economic ripple effect throughout the rest of the city.”
Kokomo was just one of two cities in Indiana with a double digit increase as Lafayette-West Lafayette saw in increase of 11%. The state’s gain for that timeframe was 5%.
The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is an association for the construction industry, representing more than 26,000 firms, including over 6,500 of America’s leading general contractors, and over 9,000 specialty-contracting firms.
