The hiring of two new firefighters will be part of the agenda at the Oct. 31 meeting of the Kokomo Board of Public Works and Safety.
Firefighters Ryan Wells and Thaddeus Hall will join the Kokomo Fire Department on Nov. 5, 2018. Wells and Hall will receive five months of classroom and hands-on training to become certified. They will also complete a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician course within their first year of employment.
“These new recruits are a perfect combination of being goal-minded and team-oriented,” said KFD Chief Nick Glover. “They have demonstrated to us that they have what it takes to become professional firefighters.”
Mayor Greg Goodnight appreciates the efforts the pair have already made.
“It takes plenty of hard work and dedication to get this point,” said Goodnight. “The public safety hiring process is lengthy but I am looking forward to their productive careers with the Kokomo Fire Department.”
In keeping with the city’s objective to promote from within, Hall is a current City of Kokomo employee with the AFSCME bargaining unit. Both Wells and Hall reside in the City of Kokomo, along with their families.
The City of Kokomo is seeking applications for new firefighters. Those interested should contact the Human Resources department at 765-456-7470 or visit the HR office at City Hall, 3rd floor, 100 S. Union Street by Dec. 5, 2018.
