Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight has been invited to participate in the 23rd Annual Bingham Greenbaum Doll (BGD) Legislative Conference.
Mayor Goodnight will join Jeff Quyle, Morgan County Councilman and Matt Greller, Indiana Association of Cities and Towns Executive Director as a panelist on the session, Local Government – The Ongoing Tension Between State and Local Government.
Mayor Goodnight is expected to discuss the effects of the Legislation passed this year which allows for the elimination of the business personal property tax without providing local governments funds to make up for the lost revenue.
“The General Assembly eliminated the business personal property tax, removing more than $1 billion dollars from local governments without any replacement revenue,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “Against the advice of Republican and Democratic mayors, they cut funding that directly hampers local governments’ ability to provide basic services, invest in infrastructure and attract new residents.”
The 2014 Legislative Conference will take place Thursday, December 4th at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.
The annual BGD conference takes place a few weeks before the Indiana General Assembly convenes. The event offers first-hand information from decision makers, thought leaders, policy makers and engaged public servants from across the state. The 2014 conference will feature Governor Mike Pence announcing his 2015 legislative agenda and a keynote address by Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush.
