Angela Martino Presented Key to the City; Longtime Restaurateur Honored for Community Service

53 years after opening the family’s first restaurant in Kokomo, Angela Martino now has a key to the city. Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight presented the ceremonial key at a surprise birthday party in her honor at the family’s restaurant, Martino’s Italian Villa.

Angela and her late husband Frank came to the United States in 1947; opened their first restaurant in Kokomo in 1962 and established Martino’s Italian Villa as a Kokomo landmark.

“You would be hard-pressed to find a harder working person who’s had a greater impact on our community than Angela Martino,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “After 53 years in business, she still works six-days a week and continues to volunteer her time in the community.”

She is a dedicated supporter of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo, Saint Joseph Hospital, provides discounted meals for veterans and for over 50 years Martino’s Italian Villa has sponsored a youth baseball team.
