The Permit Department coordinates the various construction permits required within the City of Kokomo as well as the inspection process to ensure conformance to local, state and federal regulations

City of Kokomo Permit Application Instructions

Step 1: Complete Form - Download Permit Application Form

Section 1: Location information

Fill in the address of the work and the date. For street cut permits, provide an address as close to the cut as possible.

Section 2: Building Construction

Complete this section only if you are performing building construction. Check one box in this section and fill in all other boxes. Skip down to section 4.

Section 3: Electrical Construction

Complete this section only if you are performing electrical construction only. If you filled in section 2, skip to section 4.

Section 4: Miscellaneous Construction

Check all boxes that apply.

Section 5: Personal Information

Complete this section with all information available.

Residential construction applications should be accompanied by the following:

  • Improvement Location Permit
  • Plot Plan

Commercial construction applications should be accompanied by the following:

  • Improvement Location Permit
  • Plan View
  • Plumbing Plan
  • Electrical Plan
  • Specifications
  • Plan review requires at least 2 working days to complete. All status inquiries should be directed to the permit clerk at (765) 456-7362.

All fees must be paid prior to issuing permits. Permits may be picked up at the One Stop Shop on the first floor of City Hall, 100 S. Union St.
