Hoosierdance Film Festival returns to downtown Kokomo

The 3rd annual Hoosierdance Film Festival will take place in downtown Kokomo June 8 to 10 at various locations including Bind Café, Cook McDougal’s Irish Pub. Thirty-six films from 11 countries will be screened along with films from the first Kokomo 48 Hour Film contest.

“This is one of the premier events of its kind in Indiana,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “The Festival brings in visitors from around the country and offers us a chance to show off what downtown Kokomo has to offer.”

A variety of films will be screened including everything from dramas to comedies, according to organizer Matt Myers.

“We have narrative films and documentaries,” Myers said. “Films with character-driven stories. You won’t find any cookie-cutter superhero films.”

Myers touts downtown as the perfect location for the festival.

“You can visit the other businesses downtown like Kokomo Toys or Cobalt Charm Boutique and then watch a block of films,” Myers offered. “Then you can discuss them over dinner at Cook McDougal’s or Oscar’s Pizza or Three Amigos.”

Festival passes are $20 and include access to a concert at American Dream Hi-Fi along with a free appetizer at Wings Etc. Single Screening general admission tickets are $7. Tickets can be purchased at HDIFF.org
